Things I got from this camp:
|
|
I appreciated participation in this camp since I could get many interesting information.
In this camp, I can get information below. They are very helpful.
|
- History of Internet in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, the Philippines, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Thailand
I have known about how and when the Internet was started in each country. How the people connected to Internet. Their connections were different.
|
- Internetfs usage and problem
I have learned how they use Internet and what the problem were in each countries.
Because there is no available Internet service in many parts of some countries, most people were in the darkness of Internet scarcity. Percentage of people who are Internet literates was low. There were many causes such as some countries were introduced to the Internet too late, some countries have a lot of hardware to support Internet usage, but nobody used them and geography of some countries was difficult to set up information technology services, etc.
Dial-up connections in some countries were expensive and unstable, with slow connection speeds and frequent interruptions.

- Other information concerning the Internet
In this camp, I could get more information in topics which I already had some background (DNS), which I am interesting (security in Internet and IPv6) and which I never known before (VoIP). The camp is very helpful to increase my knowledge.
The information I can get from this camp:
- DNS
I have learn more information about DNS.
- Security in Internet
Currently, security in Internet is very important and we should not neglect it. Among topics discussed in the camp, security management is the most interesting one in my opinion and I could get the model of this topic from the camp.
- IPv6
I had heard a little about IPv6 and had known only that its address length is 16 bits but I did not know how we can configure it and how it is supported by BIND. Now I know more information about IPv6.
- VoIP
I never heard about VoIP before. However, we learned about it in the camp.

I expect to bring this helpful information to help Internet implementation and development in my country. I also plan to arrange a local camp like this camp for young people in my country if I have a chance.
