Report on
8th APNG Camp, 18-20 July 2006
NUS, Singapore
Being a student of Computer
Engineering and having special interest in Computer Networks, I
found the APNG camp a very good platform to express and present my
ideas to various innovators and experts in the field from all
around the world. Being a part of APNG camp was a great leap in my
networking career and I was able to exchange my ideas and gain
more on this field. As I always had a special interest in the
networking career, the camp helped me decide the research area and
also make me more clear and specific in the practical aspect of
the same field. In the camp, I had a good opportunity to discuss
about the appropriateness of my research interest and it was also
a learning stage to get information from other participants of
different countries on the same field.
As I am from a developing country, Nepal where the networking
infrastructure is still in the very preliminary stage, the
experience I got from APNG Camp will help me enhance network
infrastructure in Nepal. Thus, after participating in the camp, I
tried to exchange the present internet status of Nepal with the
delegates from other countries and to my utmost pleasure, they
also suggested what needs to be done and what would be the
appropriate methodology.
It was also a nice opportunity to know new things about different
culture under a single roof. To represent my country’s costume to
all of the participants and to know about their costumes and
culture was indeed the happiest moment in the camp.
Before these, the camp was started on 18th of July, 2006 at
National University, Singapore. Starting from the brief
introduction of APNG Camp from Prof. Lee and the presentation on
Digital Archive by Prof. Kilnam Chon till the last day of the
Camp, it was fun to be at Singapore. Meeting the pioneers of
Internet Technology in Asia Pacific region was a pride feeling for
me. It was my first experience to attend the APNG Camp, but I will
make the most of it by bringing that experience and exposure to my
country and make it a part of innovative global village.
