The 8th Asia Pacific Next Generation Camp

The 8th Asia Pacific Next Generation Camp–Singapore
18-20 July, 2006 at the National University of Singapore

Post Camp Report

Introduction

My friend Dihan Morawaka ask me to join 8th APNG Camp at S’Pore and explained me all the A-Z about APNG. After going through the APNG WEB I decided to join. APNG accepted my e-registration. It is indeed a group of next generation except few of them including me. When I met all the members at the opening reception at YMCA on the 17th night I understood APNG is actually a synonym for Younger generation. The Camp is a very remarkable event of my life. I gathered a lot of novel information about new innovative ideas and strategies. Sharing of new know-how and experiences of participants as well as experts are very useful.

Expectaions

Sri Lanka as a Developing Country, only the basic infrastructure of the areas like communication and networking (IT Technology) are available. In order to improve the development of these areas, knowledge that we gathered from the APNG Camp would help us.
  • Gaining knowledge about the state of the art activities in the internet technologies.
  • Sharing knowledge with others.
  • Hoe to improve E-learning and Distant learning specially in the countries like Sri Lanka. (Developing country)
  • Introduce new technology to remote villages in the country
Our gains

I must mention that the keynote addresses and the guest lectures, we learnt a lot and all the group discussions and work sessions were very useful not only to exchange experiences but to identify innovative capabilities of the young members.

Special Credits

Tommy-san and Lee, Tsering can be named as the live pillars of the 8th Camp. Without their untiring efforts and devotion the 8th Camp would not have come off he ground, All the arrangements, accommodation, venue, food & refreshments, social events were up to the mark.

Suggestions for next Camp
  • Duration of the Camp is not enough
  • Invite more members and participants
  • More social gatherings and visits
  • Add more Fellows to the list
