Fellow report of 8th APNG camp
First of all, I would like to thank
the organizer(s), sponsors, senior professors, fellow participants
and last but not the least, secretary Ms. Tsering Dolker, without
whose support and reminders, it wouldn’t have been possible to be
with the group which we call the ‘Asia Pacific Networking Group’.
It was a dream come true to get
qualified to attend an international conference which was going to
be held at Singapore. Before leaving for that seminar, different
things were in my mind. I had never been abroad and I was a bit
worried about how would I go there, how would be other participants
etc. But when my plane landed on Singaporean soil at 11:15 local
time, it wasn’t that tough for me to get a cab and go to YMCA
building at Dhobighat. Due to tight schedule in my office, I
couldn’t attend the welcome party and it was what I missed a lot.
The camp started officially from 18th
of July with the presentation of Prof. Kilnam
Chon on Digital Archive. During the
period of the camp, I learnt many new things from senior professors
and fellow participants. Not only about the networks in other
regions of Asia Pacific but also I learnt about the cultures, people
and communities in the camp. The network infrastructure, e-learning,
disaster recovery systems, live-e project, these all were new things
for me to learn. To be with the network pioneers in Asia Pacific
region is indeed a great experience for me. I was so happy to
introduce myself as one of the youngest grandsons in the camp.
During the camp, I never felt I was out of my home. People out there
were supportive. It was also a nice experience for me to be with the
people from different countries. Ishino, Hikaru, Dr. Kondo, Kasif,
Abdur, Snow, 8con, Joan, Sumit, Sagarika, Awal, Tsering, Tommysan
(grandpa
J),
Prof. Lee, and all other participants whose names i forgot to
mention here and I apologize for that.
Most importantly, I
brought the confidence, experience to be with future internet
leaders and network terminologies in other regions with me. I will
try to pass it on to other friends and colleagues in my country. And
we will obviously work together to move towards better society.
Thank you all!
