Working Group on Internet Technology Introduction This working group (WG) is a group or community of people from all over Asia who get together to discuss current and future Internet technologies. During the annual meetings, members of this group present the most popular Internet technologies in their particular country, along with its application, benefits, and progress within the economy; after which, the floor is open to the other participants. Discussions include applying the particular technology to one’s own country, brainstorming, voicing opinions, and suggesting various ways in which to improve the technology from all perspectives. Topics A particular technology does not have to be limited to one country, or even to the Asia-Pacific region, alone Internet technology can be used around the globe, and is highly beneficial to other countries, as well. Topics that were discussed during the previous camps include:
Working Group on Internet Culture and Blog Introduction “WG on Internet Culture” tend to explore issues in order to capture the social implications of Internet on the users in Asia Pacific. This WG facilitates a cross-cultural view exchange platform by reinforcing inter-comprehension among the participants through healthy WG discussions. However, prime focus of the WG is to study the affects of Internet on social development and culture, “blogging”, digital divide, local language e-content, role of internet policy, implications of digital technology on the ethics, culture, language, and the society at large. WG on Internet culture also asserts that “Blogging” describes a positive way to share thoughts and exchange different point of views on Internet. This WG therefore highlight the positive undertone of blogs and make its influence better understood through sharing personal experiences during the camp. WG on Internet Culture believes that while Internet virtually connects communities across the region it still poses significant challenges to the same population in a variety of social dimensions. APNG Camp would like to invite those candidates who are interested to present their professional or academic research experiences regarding Internet and culture fusion in Asia Pacific attempting to bring together a complete spectrum of social issues encountered regionally. Topics In the past few years, WG on Internet Culture and Blogs has discussed about development of virtual community, creation of Blogs in countries, change of youth language and collective cooperation online/offline and need for local language technology. In the 8th camp, WG on Internet Culture would emphasis more on local case studies highlighting Internet as a medium of development while also studying its region wide effects on culture to gauge its inherent strengths and weaknesses. Focus areas for WG presentations are:

It is the target of this WG to introduce various approaches of e-learning where contents are shared through the Internet. Furthermore this WG also aims to disseminate information about the Live E! Project in Japan (http://www.live-e.org), which uses mesh-networks of distributed sensors for digital monitoring of meteorological phenomenon. Call for Presentation The WG on e-Learning and Live E! of the 8th APNG Camp would like to invite candidates to submit their presentation on their professional and academic researches and interests matching with the topics outlined above.
Introduction This work group in APNG was introduced in the 6th camp which was held in Kyoto Japan, due to the massive disaster created by Tsunami which affected mostly to South Asian Region countries such as Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand, India, and Malaysia. It was emphasized at the last discussion, that these countries were affected by Tsunami due to lack of proper communication technologies and methods at the disaster areas. The then called 'Tsunami Disaster Recovery Management Working Group' mainly targeted itself to find ways to overcome the barriers in communication in such situations. Although the WG was introduced due to the Tsunami disaster encountered last December, it will focus not only on Tsunami but also on encouraging representatives from various countries to share the precautionary and prevention techniques used in their countries on events such as earth quakes, earth slipping, floods. This WG also aims to integrate the e-health related issues into it. E - health refers to health services and information delivered or enhanced through the Internet and related technologies. The main objective of this integration is to discover ways in which techniques use in e-health can be applied for the purpose of conducting remote health care activities during disaster recovery and management. Topics In our WG we would be mainly focused in the following areas:
Introduction Working Group on e-commerce is newly set because more and more commercial activities are happening on the Internet. A platform for the APNG Camp members to discuss such topic is necessary. In this working group of the camp, examples, experiences, observations or business models would be discussed and shared. This group is not only for those who are interested in buying and selling in the cyber space, but also for those who think bigger. You would learn from other countries; you could share your own experience. You will find people to start up a business with; you may get fresh ideas from the group members.
