9th APNG Camp Xi’an, China August 27-30, 2007
Rich in its cultural heritage, Xi’an China is the place where the 9th APNG camp was held. We accomplished several things like: the successful participation from 12 countries (4 from Myanmar, 1 from Indonesia , 4 from Sri Lanka, 3 from Nepal, 2 from Bangladesh, 7 from China, 1 from South Korea, 4 from Pakistan, 4 from Japan , 2 from India, 3 from Thailand and 1 from the Philippines; first time local fellowship awarding; local camp committee was formed, to name a few. Credit should be given to Tommy Matsumoto (APNG Chair) and Sumith Gamage (APNG Camp chair) and the great contribution of camp-committee and working group chairs, as well. It was both educational and fun. APNG camp is always an event that you should not miss.
Though it was organized well, the following suggestions could be helpful for the next camps: better time management of each talk, have a book which will list out all the presentations during the camp and the contact details of the participants (home add, email, mobile nos, landline, IM ids, etc). Everybody can get a copy of it. Others may include video shows which will present new technologies; presentation of the status or the development of IT in each country; different uniforms that will be used by the participants for the camp; to visit one particular place where participants can witness a new technology at the camp venue; make by-laws for APNG’s organization and presentation on developing leadership skill as well since the camp promotes future Internet leaders.
