Call for Participation

Yesterday I met with my good friend Isabella Wu, the Deputy Managing Editor of CommonWealth Magazine, one of the most influential and respectful media in Greater China. We simply wanted to keep each other updated of what we have been doing. Without hesitation I started the conversation by talking about APNG and APNG Camp.
I shared with her about APNG’s mission, the history, some interesting topics in Xi’An Camp such as Prof. Kanchana’s DUMBO project, and even my son’s 2-min participation (see video). For an outsider like her, I can tell that she’s very amazed by the things that we have been doing and appreciated the passion and sharing spirit the Camp members have. The only thing she complained about is that due to lack of promotional effort, most of the people in our region still don’t know about APNG and APNG Camp, and how meaningful they have been (and will be) to the development of the Internet in Asia Pacific. She said she can certainly help spread the words out, but she needs us to tell her the stories first.
This is exactly (without any promotion $$) why we need this blog. We must write our own stories for people like Isabella. Stories like DUMBO, Disaster Management, eHealth, Live-E,…and many others can make positive impact to others and most importantly, to inspire others to use Internet and make life better.
Stories about how “you” see the Internet: at your home, your neighborhood, your ISP, your school, your company and government, are the most interesting to readers and will help the rest of the world understand what’s there (for you) or what’s not.
This is just a small step for a big region as we live in. Good news is that we already have Sumith (LK), 8con (KR), Barry (TH), and myself (Greater China) to initiate the project. Thanks to Barry and AIT/inTERLab to setup and host this blog. Next we will need your participation. Contact us if you’d like to become a regular contributor to this blog. Your opinion and findings will be shared by viewers like Isabella and others worldwide. If you find some interesting links about Internet development in your region, do share with us.
More to come, and keep in touch!
Cheers,
Ching Chiao
